As a Security Officer Educational Building Part Time Patrol Site Awareness in New York, NY, you will have reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility to pick up additional shifts when it works for you.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus community members while carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, notifying appropriate campus contacts and/or emergency responders as directed.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of campus buildings, academic areas, residence‑adjacent locations, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual conditions or policy concerns.
• Monitor access points and observe pedestrian and vehicle activity in assigned areas, reporting unauthorized access attempts, maintenance concerns, and suspicious activity according to site procedures.
• Document patrol activities, incidents, and observations accurately in required reports and communicate relevant information during shift transitions.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Undergo a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws (qualified applicants with criminal histories considered consistent with applicable laws).
• Submit to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Meet any licensing requirements mandated by state and/or local laws and regulations prior to employment.
• Hold a valid driver’s license only if the position requires driving.

Pay

Pay Rate: $18.55 - $19.55 per hour.

Schedule

Fixed‑Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule, requiring a six‑month commitment. Through the Claim‑A‑Shift program you may pick up extra shifts via the scheduling platform to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. This allows you to work part‑time hours one week and full‑time the next, with the ability to scale back when needed. The role offers part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and the opportunity to build up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week. The posted shift is DayTimeSat 11:00 PM – 07:00 AM.
