Banner Health Emergency Services is bringing a new state-of-the-art freestanding emergency department to the growing Buckeye, Arizona community, scheduled to open in November 2026. This modern 14,500-square-foot facility will feature 14 fully equipped exam rooms, a dedicated trauma and treatment room, and advanced diagnostic capabilities including X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound services. Working in close partnership with Banner Estrella Medical Center, the Buckeye emergency department will ensure seamless coordination of care with our ongoing commitment to expanding access to exceptional healthcare and supporting the continued growth of the West Valley.

Responsibilities

• Patrol facilities and grounds; assist with the welfare and safety of personnel and patients
• Investigate critical incidents; assist employees, patients and visitors
• Interface with emergency response agencies; secure doors; monitor parking and traffic control
• Respond promptly to emergency situations and all emergency codes for assistance and control
• Conduct routine patrols of hospital facilities and grounds to maintain a secure environment
• Provide effective alarm monitoring and response services
• Assist employees with security related matters, mediate disputes, conduct interviews, conduct searches, enforce parking regulations and traffic control
• Assist medical staff in restraining and handling troubled/combative patients
• Ensure security policies are being followed
• Patrol unoccupied areas and set alarms when appropriate; lock and unlock facility doors at prescribed times
• Conduct money pick-ups from departments, log pick-ups and deliver contents to appropriate destination department
• Release bodies from the morgue, ensuring all paperwork is complete
• Check alarms to ensure proper working order
• Escort patients, visitors and employees when required for security purposes
• Participate in security lead training designed for staff
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
• Perform "citizen arrest" and demonstrate critical thinking skills during extremely stressful situations as needed
• Appropriately and effectively utilize assigned non-lethal weapon according to policy and training
• Investigate and complete written reports of complaints, critical security incidents and unusual activities involving patients, employees and visitors
• Maintain an accurate log of all relevant security activities during each shift
• Professionally testify in criminal court, state hearings and review boards when required
• Based on area of assignment, assist in the maintenance and preservation of confidential health documents including scanning into electronic patient health information systems

Qualifications

• Must maintain required security certifications
• Must possess a valid driver's license and be eligible for coverage under the company auto insurance policy
• Must possess the ability to make accurate observations and exercise good independent judgment in a variety of situations (including emergencies)
• Must demonstrate the ability to write comprehensive security reports
• Must successfully complete all required security departmental training, including department specific annual training and mandatory training as assigned
• Must successfully complete Banner Health Basic Officer Academy
• Must present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times and must possess strong verbal communications skills
• Must qualify and maintain proficiency with assigned non-lethal weapons
• Must be able to demonstrate the ability to perform physical requirements of the position; capabilities will be demonstrated through successful completion of similarly related skills testing. Employees hired on or after January 1, 2019 will need to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements before starting in the role. Employees hired before January 1, 2019 must be able to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements by December 31, 2019. If upon initial evaluation an employee is unable to successfully demonstrate the physical requirements, there will be a quarterly assessment administered. This physical skills assessment will then be conducted on an annual basis and employees must successfully meet the requirements to remain in role.
• Must possess a Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment
• Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital must sign a Criminal History Affidavit upon hire

Preferred qualifications

• Prior law enforcement, military, Corrections, healthcare or advanced security experience preferred
• Additional related education and/or experience preferred
