Security Officer (Commercial)

Job Summary

Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.

About the role

This role involves controlling access, monitoring entrances and exits, patrolling the site, reporting incidents, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Controls access to the client site or facility through the admittance process.
• Affords a courteous, respectful, and pleasant interaction with clients and visitors.
• Communicates information about the site and surrounding area as requested.
• Maintains an atmosphere where all client employees and visitors feel cared for.
• Patrols the site on foot or in vehicle, checking for unsafe conditions and unauthorized persons.
• Protects evidence and scene of incidents, setting up barriers and signage.
• Prepares logs or reports as required for site.
• Reports incidents or suspicious activity to relevant parties.
• Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents or conditions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Ability to acquire and maintain any other specific special clearances/access requirements.
• Knowledge of or ability to learn security operations and procedures.
• Basic Life Support CPR/AED and First Aid from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
• Good organizational skills.
• Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.
• Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
• Basic skills in keyboarding, computer usage, and operating controls.

Qualifications

• United States citizenship preferred.
• Ability to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.
• Ability to meet and continue to meet certification requirements for Basic Life Support CPR/AED and First Aid from American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
