Security Officer College

About the role

Award-winning Allied Universal is currently seeking a Part Time Security Officer for a college in Cambridge, MA. The position operates Monday and Tuesday from 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM. The starting pay is $27.55 per hour, with paid orientation and training. Candidates must be 21 years old or older.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service at the front desk by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities appropriate to an educational location.
• Maintain security by monitoring access to the location, greeting students, staff, visitors, and/or vendors, verifying credentials, and directing guests in accordance with front desk protocols.
• Manage visitor sign-in processes, issue access instructions, and communicate security-related information to appropriate personnel in a courteous, professional manner.
• Respond to incidents, questions, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns to site leadership and/or emergency contacts when needed.
• Observe front desk activity and surrounding entry areas to help deter unauthorized access, unusual behavior, and/or policy violations, and document relevant details as required.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Pass a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Pass a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licenses are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
