Purpose
To guard, patrol, and/or monitor UMMC premises. To provide information, directions, and traffic management.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma/GED
- Certifications, Licenses Or Registration Required:
- Valid US Driver’s License
- MS Driver's license required post-hire within 30 days
- FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 courses required post-hire within 90 days
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Skill in providing protection services to individuals
- Skill in utilizing building security and lock systems and procedures
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Interpersonal skills to interact with patients, visitors, and staff
- Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports
- Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns
- Ability to understand and enforce safety procedures
Responsibilities
- Patrols assigned areas to ensure personal, building, and equipment security
- Examines doors and windows to ensure that they are secure
- Scrutinizes and reports irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, unlocked security doors, and safety concerns
- Provides information and directions to patients and visitors
- Prepares applicable reports
- Directs traffic and enforces motor vehicle operation and parking regulations
Physical and Environmental Demands
- Frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold
- Frequent handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment
- Exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations
- Occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours
- Occasional travelling to offsite locations
