Key Duties And Responsibilities
- Inventories all assigned keys and takes notes to assure all scheduled buildings are locked or open for individual or group request.
- Locks and unlocks all assigned area doors per schedule and in accordance with special lock or unlock requests.
- Observes for criminal activity or suspicious circumstances in the form of persons, places or things while locking and unlocking doors.
- If suspicious circumstances are noted, calls police for assistance immediately and remains in the area to guide or assist the responding officer.
- Creates a sense of safety and security on university properties.
- Takes all necessary measures to reduce opportunity for criminal activity and the commission of crime within the University and its properties.
- Identifies criminal offenders and calls for police officers if apprehension is required or advisable.
- Cooperates with and assists State, Municipal and other public agencies as required.
- Aids all persons seeking directions, information or assistance.
- Patrols all assigned areas giving special attention to and often rechecking those locations where security problems may be the most frequent.
- Observes for all infractions of university rules and regulations that may cause harm to persons or property and requests a police officer to report incidents and if required write the appropriate report.
- Demonstrates the ability to follow departmental policies and procedures.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Alabama Drivers License OR state ID required within 30 days of hire.
