Responsibilities
- Communicates effectively via two-way radio, computer, email, telephone and verbal communication with team members, visitors, and patients and with local law enforcement agencies.
- Keeps leadership informed.
- Attends meetings, training assigned by leadership to maintain personal growth and development.
- Maintains care for department equipment and supplies.
- Investigates, writes incident reports, and provides patient interventions and use of force reports with complete narrative.
- Takes custody and secures weapons until returned to owner.
- Provides daily activity logs before the end of shift.
- Is knowledgeable of security sensitive areas.
- Escorts team members, patients and visitors to parking areas.
- Locks/unlocks designated doors.
- Monitors the conduct of hospital visitors.
- Confronts unauthorized people, reports safety concerns, fire hazards and security violations by patrolling the hospital facility.
- Controls traffic and enforce parking regulations.
- Maintains parking lot surveillance to assure safety, enforces applicable parking regulations, and initiates towing of vehicles.
- Writes and reports parking citations of illegally parked vehicles.
- Provides immediate and prompt response to emergency codes.
- Assists with the management of individuals with behavioral issues and provides back up for law enforcement in those situations.
- Maintains a working knowledge of emergency codes and response procedures.
- Responds appropriately and in a timely manner to all emergency situations as well as activated security alarms.
Requirements
- Hired applicants will be required to obtain Certification in Non-Crisis Intervention (NCI), Basic Life Support (BLS), First Aid as well as training to carry ASP baton, handcuffs, and OC pepper spray.
- Training and evaluation will be provided.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current NC Driver’s License.
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 lb on occasion as warranted by emergent circumstances.
- Able to stand, walk, stoop, and bend regularly for entire shift.
- Able to run or move quickly as warranted by emergent circumstances.
- Able to practice effective body mechanics.
Skills
- Effective communication skills.
