Security Officer
About the role
The Security Officer reports to the Director of Security. Under general supervision, the Security Officer monitors and provides protection and security for facilities, premises, employees, patients and visitors. This position responds to security calls within the medical center and conducts basic investigations as well as troubleshooting of the electronic visitor management system.

- Physically patrols the perimeter of the medical center and parking lot.
- Communicates tactfully with the public.
Requirements
- Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
- At least 1 year experience in Security or equivalent job functions is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
- Continuous – 6-8 hours per shift: Standing, Sitting, Walking, Climbing Stairs, Working Indoors, Working Outdoors in Temperature Extremes, Working from Elevated Areas, Working from Kneeling Positions, Bending at Waist, Twisting at Waist, Squatting, Performing Pinching Operations, Performing Gross Motor Activities with Fingers and Hands, Performing Firm Grasping with Fingers and Hands, Performing Fine Manipulation with Fingers and Hands, Reaching Overhead, Reaching in All Directions, Lifting and Carrying 50 lbs. Unassisted, Lifting/Lowering Objects 50 lbs. from/to Floor from/to 36 inches Unassisted, Lifting from 36” to Overhead 25 lbs. Unassisted, Exerting Up to 50 lbs. of Force.
- Frequent – 2-6 hours per shift: Climb Stairs, Reach Overhead, Reach in All Directions, Lift and Carry 50 lbs. Unassisted, Lifting/Lowering Objects 50 lbs. from/to Floor from/to 36 inches Unassisted, Lifting from 36” to Overhead 25 lbs. Unassisted, Exerting Up to 50 lbs. of Force.
- Infrequent – 0-2 hours per shift: None.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year of relevant experience (Security, Law Enforcement, Fire Service, Emergency Medical Service, Behavioral Health, Counselor, Education, or Military).
- A Bachelor’s degree or other relevant certifications may be substituted for the required work experience.
- Must obtain and be able to maintain the International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety certification (IAHSS) within the first year of employment.
- Must have a valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
