How You'll Contribute
A Security Officer who excels in this role:
- Proactively monitor hospital premises and respond quickly to any potential or active security threats.
- Investigate, manage, and document all security incidents, hazards, and unusual activities.
- Follow and enforce established policies, including alarm systems and emergency/disaster preparedness procedures.
- Lead and participate in safety drills and simulations to ensure staff readiness.
- Provide guidance, assistance, and a visible security presence to support the safety of staff, patients, and visitors.
- Conduct regular patrols to prevent theft, vandalism, fire risks, and unauthorized access.
- Manage traffic and parking flow while maintaining accurate reports, records, and security documentation.
Schedule
- Full-Time; Nights: 5:00 PM - 5:00 AM.

Requirements
- Much walking is required during normal duty shift. Position requires mobility, bending, occasional lifting (5-50lbs), stooping, standing and sitting.
- Seeing, hearing, speaking and writing clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients, as well as to ability to observe and report incidents.
- Potential for exposure to inclement weather, unpleasant odors or sights.
- Must be physically fit and alert.
- Eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity is required.
- Moderate to high stress level.
- May require physical exertion during stressful encounters with challenging individuals.
- May have to restrain individuals or deal with resistance on a daily basis.
- MUST be able to remain calm, continue to function effectively, and develop priorities during stressful situations.
- MUST maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, executives, clients, staff and the public, often under conditions of urgency and in pressure situation.
- May be exposed to stressful situations, such as challenging individuals who are in or approaching an unauthorized area.
- Assist in light snow removal and ice melt spreading to help ensure the safety of all staff, patients, and visitors.
- Assist in lifting or moving patients as requested.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Handle With Care certification within 3 months of hire or transfer.
- Strong critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to remain calm and take appropriate action in high-stress or emergency situations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and staff.
- Ability to de-escalate conflicts and manage difficult or sensitive situations.
- Basic report writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to perform physical duties, including standing, walking, and patrolling for extended periods.
- Previous security, healthcare, or customer service experience preferred.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
