Security Officer
Position Location
This position will be located onsite in Palmer, Alaska.
Job Overview
Responsible for performing alarm and patrol duties in assigned areas to protect life and property against theft, misappropriation, vandalism, fire, flood, or similar disaster. Provide vehicle transportation support function under direction of supervisor in compliance with government, corporate, and management directives.
Pay
$20.74/hour plus an additional $5.09/hour (up to maximum of 40 hours per week) used to offset the cost of elected benefits
Schedule
M-F, 5:00am- 1:30pm

- Vacation: Minimum of ten days per year. Actual days are based upon your Service Date
- Sick Time: Accrued sick time at 1 hour per 30 hours worked, capped at 56 hours per year

Job Requirements
- Mandatory: High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One (1) year experience with an organized security department, law enforcement agency, or experience with security duties.
- Successfully pass background check and drug test required on the contract.
- Current, valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Preferred
- Previous experience in law enforcement.
- Training with an organized security department.

Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions
- Work is typically performed in an office setting and at various locations on Center.
- Employee must regularly walk, climb stairs and visually observe Center environment.
- Employee must be able to run and respond to physical altercations or other emergencies rapidly for the safety of students, Center staff and property.
- Employee must be able to safely operate a passenger vehicle and supervise students simultaneously.
