About the role

As a Security Officer Access Control Specialist in Polk City, FL, you will serve and safeguard clients in industries such as Utilities. You will monitor entry points, verify credentials, manage visitor access, and maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents. You will communicate professionally with employees and visitors, conduct routine patrols, and support a welcoming, orderly environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to utility facility personnel, visitors, contractors, and delivery drivers by carrying out site-specific procedures, access requirements, and emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Monitor and control access points by verifying credentials, documenting visitor and contractor entry and exit, and directing authorized individuals according to site policies.
  • Help to deter unauthorized access by observing access-control systems, reporting unusual activity or credential concerns, and following established escalation procedures.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate site contacts and/or emergency responders as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of access points, facility areas, and perimeter locations, reporting hazards, maintenance concerns, and security-related issues.

Requirements

  • At least one year of security-related experience is required.
  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
