About the role

As a Security Officer, you'll monitor numerous properties to provide safety and security to Sentry associates, visitors, and assets. At Sentry, security is one of our top priorities. Schedule

  • 2nd shift: Monday through Friday, 2:30pm–10:30pm
  • Rotating 3rd shift weekend: 6:30pm–6:30am
  • Flexibility required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed

Responsibilities

  • Patrol and monitor interior and exterior of numerous premises to prevent and detect risks to Sentry associates and property, including monitoring cameras, security systems and devices, checking for tampering or damage to property and equipment, detecting health and safety issues, and identifying unauthorized individuals
  • Analyze and respond appropriately to emergency situations, taking command of the scene and providing needed aid, including medical attention, deescalating situations using verbal and physical tactics, directing those nearby, and escorting emergency personnel through the building
  • Escalate risks appropriately based on severity
  • Investigate identified risks or issues by reviewing security cameras and access control system to analyze the situation/incident, review with more experienced team members and/or managers to determine appropriate follow-up steps
  • Administer the access control system for all associates, contractors, and visitors, including issuing temporary badges, activating and inactivating badges, and acknowledging and responding to alarms
  • Complete incident reports on irregularities such as equipment and property damage, safety and health issues, theft, presence of unauthorized individuals, and other unusual occurrences
  • Conduct regular inspections on fire extinguishers, fire valves, AED, door alarms, eyewash stations, lighting, audible alarms, and other equipment to ensure proper functioning
  • Collaborate with Travel department on pool car administration by signing out and collecting keys from authorized individuals
  • Maintain lost & found, temporary keys, temporary & visitor access badges, parcel, overnight parking, and other logs
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned from time to time

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent work experience
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification
  • Excellent driving record
  • Ability to react quickly and remain calm in sensitive situations
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Obtain and maintain membership in professional industry organizations (i.e. ASIS)
