About the role

The Security Officer is the primary responder for all safety concerns, security incidents and service requests at facilities owned or occupied by Seattle Children's in the department's efforts to deter, detect, prevent, respond, and document concerns or incidents that risk the safety and well-being of patients, families, visitors, workforce members, and property.

Responsibilities

• Utilize appropriate protocols, emergency response procedures, and/or non-violent crisis intervention methods to address safety concerns.
• Respond to all safety concerns, security incidents, and service requests.
• Work in collaboration with the Security leadership team and PBMU nursing leadership as a Crisis Intervention Specialist.
• Provide support in the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit (PBMU).
• Assist in maintaining a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, workforce members, and property.

Requirements

• Vary for level of Security Role: High school or equivalent experience for Level I, Associate degree in Criminal Justice or related field for Level II.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 90 days of hire.
• CPI Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification within 90 days of hire (Annual Requirement).
• Completion of NCI Autism Training within 12 months of hire.
• Completion of Seattle Children’s Safe Firearms Training within 12 months of hire.
• Safety Cares Certification within 90 days of hire if required for location (Annual Requirement).
• Completion of Car Seat Safety Training within 12 months of hire if required for position/role.
• Score of 80% or above on Seattle Children's Security Competency Exam in assigned area of the Security Department (Service Call, Emergency Department, Entrance, Surge, and Research) within 12 months.
• Valid Washington State Driver’s License with a driving record acceptable to Risk Management.
• Completion of Wheelchair vehicle Training.
• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Certification.

Pay

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Schedule

• All shifts: Day, Nights, Evenings plus Weekends.
• Part-time & on-call, all locations.
• Part-time is benefits eligible.
