Security Guard (Unarmed)

About the role

The Unarmed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of clients, including their staff, employees, and vendors. They provide a visible deterrent to crime and respond quickly to emergencies and non-emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Provides a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities in public and non-public areas.
• Responds quickly and effectively to emergency and non-emergency situations.
• Verbal intervention during crisis, including developing rapport emotionally and understanding when people are or are not processing information.
• Physical intervention during crises.
• Escorts persons and assists client personnel as needed.
• Maintains a positive working relationship with co-workers, client staff members, and other client vendors.
• Maintains a functional knowledge of a facility and where applicable of multiple facilities.
• Enforces and abides by all policies and guidelines of the client.
• Performs other duties at the direction of the Security leader and/or any other recognized leadership personnel.

Qualifications

• A High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• Prefer a college degree in criminal justice or security discipline, or successful completion of police academy, or experience in one of the following areas: Military Police, Correctional Officer, Law Enforcement, Customer Service.
• Military Veterans are encouraged to apply.
• Previous experience working with the public in a service setting is preferred.
• A Guard Card in the Denver area is preferred.
• Basic Officer, Advanced Officer, and Supervisor Certifications preferred or must be completed within 1 year of assignment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable jurisdictional security license(s) or certifications and/or client/contract specific licenses or certifications.
• Ability to complete all training and pass all competency tasks in the allotted time, including Team training, Basic Firearms and TASER training, and client new employee orientation and security procedures and policies.
• Ability to work, interact and communicate effectively with diverse people including client, client employee, patients, visitors, physicians, the public or client vendors.
• Ability to comprehend and execute written or verbal instructions.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend English language proficiently.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Maintain regular attendance in accordance with attendance policy.
• Comply with all compliance requirements, including but not limited to, being 21 years of age or older, having a valid driver's license, passing a psychological screening assessment, and meeting client driving guidelines, if applicable.
• Pass a thorough background check per the CLIENT’s contract, which may include a criminal history search, CBI/FBI fingerprints, CBI name check, MVR/DMV search, psychological screening, sex offender search, SAM/OIG search, CAPS check, DORA check, drug and/or alcohol screening, DOT testing, or any additional requirement set forth by the CLIENT to ensure security compliance.

Pay

DOE: $19.29/hour

Schedule

Variety of shifts - 1st shift: 6:00 am to 2:45 pm; 2nd shift: 2:45 pm to 11:00 pm; 3rd shift: 11:00 pm to 6:00 am.
