Security Guard - Part Time

About the Location
This position is based at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center in Norwood, MA. The property features 230 modern, smoke-free guestrooms, including allergy-friendly options, complimentary Wi-Fi, parking, and access to the fitness center and indoor pool. With 28 meeting rooms and 40,000 square feet of event space, the hotel is well-suited for meetings, conferences, and social events. Guests can enjoy dining at One Bistro or the daily breakfast buffet at Zachariah’s. The Norwood location provides easy access to Boston, Providence, Gillette Stadium, Legacy Place, and nearby commuter rail and Amtrak service.
Schedule
- Shift Hours: 5pm–Midnight, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
- Must have availability for any two days of the three listed above
- Flexibility to work other shifts as needed (e.g., 12pm–6pm on Saturday and Sunday afternoons)
- Holiday coverage required (24/7 operation)
Relocation is not offered for this position.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and patrol the buildings and grounds to ensure no unauthorized activity occurs
- Address all emergencies promptly (medical, fire, mechanical, water, and electrical) and notify appropriate staff
- Safeguard the premises and surrounding areas to deter harm or property loss, including securing a vehicle gate
- Observe all individuals entering and exiting the premises, watching for unusual or suspicious behavior
- Maintain a log of all visitors and vendors, recording name, company, person visited, license plate, and time of entry
- Receive after-hours business calls, gather necessary information, and contact relevant personnel
- Monitor the building’s automated computer control system, respond to alarms, troubleshoot issues, and notify facilities staff
- Monitor weather and road conditions and notify ground personnel when necessary
Requirements
- One year of experience as a security guard (3 years preferred)
- Experience in military service or law enforcement is a plus
- Proficiency in operating "inspection" equipment and a Windows-compatible PC for managing the building’s automated control system
- Able to stand and walk for long periods
- Strong situational awareness and a calming demeanor when dealing with irate guests/clients
- Comfortable working in natural elements and extreme weather conditions
- Willingness to guard a 5-foot-deep pool when required
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
- Lifeguard Certification, First Aid, Choke Saver, and AED Training are a plus
