Basic Purpose
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving law enforcement duties at a state agency, institution or facility. This will include conducting patrols in an assigned area or location to enforce laws and rules and provide protection for individuals and property within the assigned area of responsibility.

$38,072.00
Typical Functions
- Patrols an assigned area or location to eliminate hazards, vandalism or other criminal activity;
- Provides protection for individuals and property within the area of responsibility;
- May carry firearms and be required to use force to enforce security, apprehend suspects, or protect lives.
- Directs traffic in an assigned area and controls traffic entering and leaving parking areas;
- Enforces parking and traffic laws and regulations;
- Issues citations or makes arrests as appropriate.
- Directs police, fire and other emergency vehicles;
- Provides assistance to authorities in the handling or investigation of traffic accidents, fires, vandalism, and other emergency situations and incidents.
- Greets visitors;
- Answers inquiries;
- Receives and relays messages concerning both business and personal matters.
Supervision
Plans and directs law enforcement programs; coordinates law enforcement activities within assigned areas of responsibility.
Education And Experience
- Two years and six months of experience in security or law enforcement work or direct care of juveniles in a secure residential facility.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Competencies
- Knowledge of routine police and security practices;
- Of state and federal laws related to public safety and criminal conduct;
- Of traffic control;
- Of methods and techniques used in conducting investigations;
- Of emergency response procedures;
- Of first aid techniques;
- Of supervisory principles and practices.
Special Requirements
- Must be willing and able to complete all job-related travel normally associated with the position.
- Must complete the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training course within twelve months of employment or have previously completed this training.
- Must successfully complete a National Agency check for the purpose of gaining access to restricted areas and/or obtaining a security clearance.
- Must maintain a physical fitness standard that will allow them to perform the duties of the position.
- Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver License at the time of employment.
