Responsibilities
- Abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and policies, performing responsibilities in an ethical manner
- Communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, and families
- Responds to overhead pages; completes and maintains accurate records as required
- Investigates and prepares legible written reports of incidents and accidents, ensuring reports are concise and meet University, Hospital, and Security Department standards
- Inspects doors and lights as required
- Responds quickly to fires and other emergency situations
- Performs preventative patrols of the hospital and grounds with minimal supervision; assists the Police Department as required on the property
- Completes all duties positively and without conflict; cooperates, helps others, and improves unit performance
- Completes all mandatory unit, educational, and hospital requirements; utilizes cost-effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
- Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
- Performs security desk/gate duties while monitoring security video systems equipment and magnetometers
- Patrols premises on foot and by cart to protect persons and property
- Occasionally works in inclement weather, exposing employee to elements
- Completes all mandatory department, educational, and hospital requirements
- Maintains regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
- Related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Completion of tenth school grade
- Specified positions may require possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama
- Comparable combination of education and experience may substitute for the above requirements
Benefits
Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
