Security Guard

NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is a full-service teaching hospital and Level I trauma center located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. The hospital serves as NYU Langone Health's anchor for healthcare access, growth, and delivery in the borough.

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Security Guard. In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors. The guard is alert and aware of all activities within the designated area around their post or on monitors, and carries out all instructions from supervisors or policies issued by the hospital or director.

Responsibilities

• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
• Conducts floor patrols or rounds within the hospital and medical offices.
• Provides routine information to visitors, vendors, and employees and directs them to the proper destination.
• Responds to calls for morgue duty, including transporting deceased patients to the morgue and ensuring proper release of the body.
• Collects patient valuables upon request and secures them in the property room safe until retrieved.
• Routinely provides escort service to staff and visitors.
• Responds to alarm activations and investigates the cause.
• Maintains a professional appearance at all times by being properly uniformed and well-groomed.
• Assists in conducting all fire drills within the hospital.
• Periodically provides one-on-one observation of psychiatric patients.
• Assists in patient restraint (e.g., Emergency Department, Psychiatric unit).
• Collects and properly documents lost and found items.
• Keeps a daily activity log of all activities and calls for service.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NYS Security Guard Registration.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior security experience preferred.
• CPR/Heart Saver certifications preferred.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $54,212.92 - $75,302.17 annually. Actual salaries depend on factors such as experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
