Security Guard

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform park wide security patrols throughout assigned shift.
• Identify and report incidents to direct supervisor.
• Maintain awareness of weather conditions and communicate status to zoo staff and guests.
• Ensure security systems are functioning properly.
• Coordinate parking and assist guests as needed.
• Maintain daily activity reports and prepare incident reports.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with the general public and children.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Ability to prepare accurate written reports.
• Ability to operate various zoo-owned vehicles.

Skills

• Positive public representation of the Nashville Zoo.
• Effective communication and de-escalation skills.
• Accurate record-keeping and reporting abilities.
• Professionalism and responsiveness under pressure.
• Operational knowledge of zoo security systems.

Education/Experience

• Current State of TN Guard Certification with Dallas endorsement.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the Security field.
• Valid Tennessee Driver's License.

Physical Responsibilities

• Outdoor work conditions year-round, including extreme weather.
• Standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Work Schedule

• Average 40 hours per week for full-time positions.
• Average 16 hours per week for part-time positions.
• Flexible scheduling to accommodate special events, emergencies, or animal care needs.
• Available shifts include weekdays, weekends, holidays, and special events.
