About the Role

The Security Guard provides proactive, mobile safety monitoring across multiple district campus sites. Operating under a strict directive to Observe, Report, and Document, the Security Guard acts as the eyes and ears of the district during assigned shifts to ensure a safe environment for students, staff, and property.

Responsibilities

  • Formally log in immediately upon arrival at assigned duty stations.
  • Visit multiple district campuses at random, highly unpredictable intervals to deter trespassers and identify security breaches.
  • Conduct thorough perimeter checks and systematic, random physical door and window checks across campuses to ensure all exterior gates and doors are completely locked and secure.
  • Safely disarm facility alarms and unlock designated exterior gates to permit entry for scheduled, authorized contractors.
  • Promptly answer and respond to on-site alarms, reported suspicious situations, unauthorized individuals, and active emergency needs.
  • Directly call in and report triggered burglary or fire alarms to emergency dispatch and district administrators.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact and summon local law enforcement agencies to campus sites immediately as necessary.
  • Identify and log infrastructure concerns, specifically reporting buildings with inadequate, missing, or burned-out exterior lighting.
  • Check for, discover, and immediately report unmapped unsecured/missing district assets or newly occurring property damage and vandalism.
  • Log and accurately document all daily activities, incidents, safety concerns, and policy violations within the designated physical logbook or digital monitoring application.
  • Capture and submit clear digital photographs as necessary for further documentation of vandalism, maintenance issues, or security breaches.
  • Interact with all students, staff, authorized contractors, and members of the public with absolute courtesy, professionalism, and respect.
  • Maintain absolute fidelity to the core protective scope of observing, reporting, and documenting without stepping outside authorized administrative boundaries.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Card.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Skills

  • Ability to navigate and effectively use security tracking software, mobile reporting applications, and digital camera tools.
  • Strong written communication skills for compiling accurate, chronological incident logs.
  • Knowledge of applicable District Policies and Local, State, and Federal Laws.

Physical Requirements

  • May require stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
  • Requires extensive walking, standing, and climbing stairs across outdoor campus environments during varied weather conditions.

Schedule

12-month position with 10-hour days, 4 days per week.

Pay

Educational Support Professional Salary Schedule, Column D, ranging from $21.08 to $30.60 per hour.
