Security Guard 1
This position will serve as a Security Guard for Metro Water Services at various locations, overseeing and participating in patrolling assigned areas to protect public property, buildings, related facilities, visitors, and employees. The role may require “on call” availability and off-shift/after-hours site visits.
Metro Water Services (MWS) works around the clock to supply, treat, manage, and protect our water resources sustainably for the benefit of all who live, work, and play in our community. Our dedicated, diverse workforce provides high-quality drinking water, wastewater treatment, stormwater management, and waste collection services for customers in the Nashville-Davidson County area. We service more than 210,000 water and 216,000 sewer accounts, along with over 150,000 curbside waste collection customers.
Responsibilities
- Controls admittance of persons or vehicles on government property.
- Monitors and operates various security devices/systems.
- Drives carts and metro vehicles to patrol property perimeter and remote buildings.
- Issues visitor passes and maintains visitor logs.
- Provides directions and information to employees and the public.
- May collect dump tickets or validate permits for Environmental Compliance where required.
- Patrols government property on foot, in a cart, or with a vehicle to ensure areas are free of obstructions, loiterers, and vandalism.
- Maintains order and calls for police assistance as needed.
- May carry firearms and attend in-service training programs.
- Maintains accurate records.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent. Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.
- All employees of the Metropolitan Government must be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents within six (6) months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using Microsoft Office products including Excel and Word.
- Knowledge and understanding of physical security practices and applications.
- Knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS).
