About the role

As a Principal Security Architect at Jeppesen ForeFlight, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the company's technical security strategy across enterprise IT and SaaS environments. You will own the security architecture, collaborating closely with engineering, infrastructure, product security, and compliance teams to safeguard sensitive pilot, operator, and aviation data. This senior individual contributor position offers significant authority and influence, allowing you to define security standards, drive adoption of best practices, and measure the effectiveness of security initiatives. Reporting directly to IT leadership, you will serve as the senior technical security voice within the organization, partnering with your peers in product engineering to ensure a robust security posture. The role is hybrid, based in Denver, CO, or Austin, TX, with consideration for remote candidates on a case-by-case basis.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in security engineering or architecture, including at least 3+ years in a principal or staff-level role with enterprise ownership
• Deep understanding of security across data centers, cloud platforms (Azure, AWS), and hybrid environments
• Hands-on experience with enterprise identity platforms such as Okta and Entra ID/Azure AD
• Proficiency with modern detection and response tools including EDR/XDR, SIEM, and SOAR
• Solid knowledge of security frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and SOC 2; familiarity with FAA/EASA, DoD, or CMMC standards is advantageous
• Proven ability to translate risk assessments and audit findings into actionable engineering improvements
• Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging both technical teams and executive stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field; professional certifications such as CISSP, OSCP, or GIAC are valued but not mandatory

Responsibilities

• Define and continuously develop the enterprise security architecture, covering identity management, endpoint security, network security, cloud security, and SaaS integrations
• Design and oversee the implementation of zero-trust access models, IAM/PAM solutions, multi-factor authentication, and privileged credential management platforms like Okta and Entra ID
• Lead the technical response to high-severity security incidents, operating and maturing EDR/XDR, SIEM, and DLP programs, and driving post-incident security improvements
• Evaluate and approve security designs for new platforms, SaaS integrations, infrastructure initiatives, and mergers & acquisitions, ensuring security standards are maintained
• Partner with Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) teams to align security initiatives with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and aviation-specific control requirements, translating regulatory findings into engineering actions
• Mentor security and infrastructure engineers, promote security best practices, and participate in cross-functional architecture reviews to elevate security awareness and standards

Pay

Competitive salary range of $180,000 to $220,000.
