We are seeking a Security Engineer to join our team at TekSynap, a fast-growing high-tech company focused on delivering comprehensive information management environments for Federal Government customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist the team in architecture, design, implementation, support, maintenance, and expansion of security management tools such as:
- Tenable Security Center
- Tenable Nessus Manager
- Microsoft SQL Server
- Forescout CounterACT
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- Palo Alto Cortex XDR
- Microsoft Defender
- Splunk Enterprise
- Cisco Secure Email Gateway
- Infoblox DNS
- Deployment, configuration, maintenance, patching, troubleshooting, security remediation, and decommissioning of Linux and Windows servers in both physical and virtual environments.
- Create SQL queries to provide ad-hoc reports, analysis, and datasets.
- Hands-on administrative and operational experience with some of the following technologies or skill areas:
- DHS Continuous Diagnostic and Mitigation (CDM)
- Desired State Inventory
- Plan of Action and Milestone (POA&M) management
- Disaster Recovery and Agency Contingency Planning
- Vulnerability and Configuration Compliance Scanning and Assessments
- Technical writing of security compliance and assessment documentation
- Creating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Security Log Management and Analysis
- Application Security
- Data Loss Prevention
- System Administration
- Endpoint Security and Advanced Threat Protection
- DNS/DNSSEC Administration
- Email Security
- Intrusion Prevention/Detection System Administration
- Packet Capture and Protocol Analysis
- Security Policy Enforcement
- Web-filtering and Web Content Security
- Encryption
- Two-Factor Authentication
Requirements
- Experience in security solutions, implementation, support, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of network management tools.
- Ability to obtain a PUBLIC TRUST clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in new and related older technology.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Pay
Target salary range: $150,000.00 - $170,000.00. The range displayed is an estimate and will be determined based on several factors including the individual’s education, knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, contract parameters, and organizational requirements.
Schedule
- Day shift, Monday – Friday.
- May be requested to work evenings and weekends to meet program and contract needs.
- Telework possible.
- Amount of travel: Less than 10%.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Location: Rockville, MD (Office/Remote).
- Noise level: Low.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Use hands to grip, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Stand, walk, sit, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Lift up to 10 pounds regularly, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
- Must be a United States citizen.
- Must be able to obtain an NRC IT Level I/II clearance.
