Security Engineer

About the role

The City of Gainesville is insourcing IT and rebuilding an IT team from the ground up. You name it, we need it! XDR, WSG, ESG, DLP, CASB, SASE, Firewalls, IPS, Incident Response, Vulnerability Mgmt, System hardening and baseline conf, M365 and Azure hardening, DLP, etc, etc, etc.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of city systems and data
• Bring deep expertise in core IT security practices
• Demonstrate familiarity with Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance standards
• Build new technology solutions from the ground up
• Enjoy continuous learning and automate operational tasks and scripting to maximize efficiency
• Take initiative, work independently, and help modernize security posture across a mid-sized environment
• Provide security solutions that enable business outcomes rather than implementing restrictive controls that hinder operations

Requirements

• Track record of providing security solutions that enable business outcomes
• Experience with XDR, WSG, ESG, DLP, CASB, SASE, Firewalls, IPS, Incident Response, Vulnerability Mgmt, System hardening and baseline conf, M365 and Azure hardening, DLP
• Familiarity with Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance standards
• Deep expertise in core IT security practices
• Ability to build new technology solutions from the ground up
• Continuous learning and automation skills
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in IT security
• CISSP or equivalent certification preferred

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually.

Schedule

This position may provide a hybrid option with a minimum of 3 days/week onsite.
