Core Responsibilities
- Design and implement network and cloud cybersecurity solutions for complex, ambiguous problems.
- Identify short-term risk mitigation strategies while driving systemic improvements.
- Support organizational cybersecurity goals and influence team projects with sound technical judgment.
- Maintain and optimize network and cloud security tools through timely patching, proactive monitoring, and automation of repetitive tasks.
- Implement robust alerting systems and streamline architectures to reduce operational overhead.
- Conduct user experience testing for all changes and communicate proactively with stakeholders.
- Detect and respond urgently to technical security issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures.
- Leverage AI technologies (e.g., Microsoft Copilot) to automate repetitive tasks, optimize workflows, and enhance troubleshooting.
Knowledge Management and Development
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive documentation and training materials for assigned products.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) and support cross-training initiatives.
- Engage in continuous improvement of documentation and training processes.
- Complete formal training and pursue certifications in advanced security engineering, cloud security, and AI integration.
- Broaden cross-domain knowledge (e.g., networking, DevSecOps, identity management) to improve collaboration and solution design.
Integration, Projects, and Initiatives
- Deliver on assigned projects and resiliency programs within time, budget, and scope.
- Drive integration efforts, projects, and strategic initiatives by fostering strong cross-team collaboration.
- Represent the team’s objectives effectively while maintaining clear, actionable artifacts such as diagrams, timelines, and procedural documentation.
- Deploy pilots and proof-of-concepts, validating assumptions before enterprise-wide rollout.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity.
- 2+ years of direct experience with Cybersecurity tools selection, design, deployment, maintenance, and operations.
- 2+ years of direct engineering experience with Network and Cloud Security solutions (IDS, IPS, WAF, DDOS Mitigation, CDN, SIEM, SWG, SASE, ZTNA, CASB, etc.).
- Working knowledge of networking and cloud security knowledge & concepts.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g. NIST CSF, CIS Critical Security Controls, NIST 800-53).
- Experience with secure design principles, cybersecurity capabilities, and networking fundamentals.
- Automation experience desired (Python, scripts, Ansible, Salt, etc.).
Education & Certifications
- 4-year college degree in Computer Science or Cybersecurity (or equivalent).
- Security certifications (Security+, CASP+, GSEC, SSCP, CDPSE, GIAC/SANS, or equivalent).
- Cloud certifications (CCSP, CCSK, Cloud+, AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Operating System certifications (MCSE, RHCE, Linux+, Server+, or equivalent).
- Network certifications (Network+, CCIE, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent).
