About the role
The Security Dispatch Supervisor serves as a working supervisor, performing the full range of Security Dispatcher functions while also directing and supervising subordinate staff. Responsibilities include assigning and delegating work projects, scheduling employees to maintain proper staffing levels, and performance management such as evaluating work performance, coaching, mentoring, and implementing corrective action for performance and conduct issues. The role also involves conducting data management and analysis to support department performance improvement. This position requires the highest regard for professionalism, confidentiality, speed, and accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Perform dispatch duties as needed, including handling emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Supervise and direct subordinate staff, including work assignments and scheduling.
- Conduct performance management, including evaluations, coaching, mentoring, and corrective action.
- Manage data and analyze department performance to drive improvements.
- Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and accuracy in all communications and tasks.
- Communicate effectively with hospital personnel, patients, and outside callers.
- Think quickly and clearly under stressful situations, establishing priorities and disseminating information as needed.
- React logically to unusual situations and make swift decisions during emergencies.
- Foster a collaborative, team-oriented work environment.
- Contribute to process improvements and share information with colleagues.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Two years of related experience, with working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year of supervisory experience.
- Two years of supervisory experience preferred; if no supervisory experience, four years of dispatch experience required.
- One year of dispatch or related experience in a high call volume setting preferred.
- Ability to type 40 words per minute.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Clear and distinct speaking voice.
- Ability to think quickly and clearly under pressure, establishing priorities and passing on information effectively.
- Critical thinking skills and good judgment under pressure.
- Capability to react logically to unusual situations.
- Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with a wide variety of personnel and callers.
- Friendly, responsive, and service-minded attitude toward all customers.
- Ability to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions.
