About the role
Valiant Solutions is seeking a Security Compliance Policy and Guide Writer to join our rapidly growing and innovative cybersecurity team. This role involves documenting security control requirements for a large government client, including agency policies, technical baselines, and compliance documentation.
Responsibilities
- Ensures all Agency documents align with FISMA, other Federal guidance, and the Agency’s internal guidance on information security.
- Interfaces with federal employees and contractors to perform required activities.
- Assists in presenting updates and the status of deliverables to the client.
- Develops spreadsheets for tracking metrics related to FISMA, A&A, and continuous monitoring.
- Gathers and writes technical documents for the installation, operation, and maintenance of information systems in clear and concise language.
- Ensures technical documents are written in a clear, readable format for both technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ensures documentation properly references organizational policies as needed.
- Performs quality assurance reviews and edits applicable materials as needed.
- Acquires and verifies knowledge by working closely with stakeholders and making improvements to documentation.
- Works with system owners and SMEs to understand existing and planned technologies and standards.
- Writes or edits documentation for reports, manuals, briefings, proposals, instructional materials, catalogs, and software/hardware documentation.
- Utilizes project management tools to manage and track assigned tasks.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience writing technical documentation for IT solutions, including operational guides and compliance documentation.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Engineering, or related degree, or two (2) additional years of professional experience in lieu of degree.
- Must understand NIST special publications, FISMA, and other federal laws and regulations and be able to translate them into policy.
- Ability to rapidly and effectively research Federal regulations, laws, and guidance and apply them in the editing and writing of policies, technical guides, and procedural guides.
- Experience using Google Workspace (Google Drive, Sheets, Docs) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of IT standards and frameworks (at a minimum, NIST and ISO).
Qualifications
- Must have a valid U.S. Government security clearance.

- Experience with Google Workspace.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $128,500, with benefits including paid time off, holidays, and FSA programs.
Pay
The salary for this role is expected to be in the $115,000-$128,500 range.
