Job Overview

The Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, employees, and property assets. This role performs routine patrols, monitors security systems, responds to incidents, and enforces safety procedures while delivering professional and courteous guest service. The Security Officer plays a vital role in supporting OTH Hotels Resorts’ commitment to safety, service excellence, and operational integrity by maintaining vigilance, professionalism, and a strong customer-focused approach.

Job Responsibilities

  • Security Patrol & Monitoring
    • Conduct routine patrols of all interior and exterior areas, including guest floors, public spaces, back-of-house areas, parking lots, and property perimeter.
    • Monitor CCTV systems, alarms, and access points to ensure property safety and security.
    • Observe and report suspicious activities, unsafe conditions, or potential risks.
    • Maintain knowledge of property layout, including function rooms, emergency exits, and safety equipment locations.
  • Incident Response & Emergency Support
    • Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, alarms, and security concerns.
    • Assist with medical emergencies and administer basic first aid/CPR as needed.
    • Follow established emergency procedures including evacuations, fire response, and life safety protocols.
    • Document all incidents accurately through Daily Activity Reports and Incident Reports.
  • Guest Service & Support
    • Provide directions, assistance, and information to guests in a courteous and professional manner.
    • Assist with guest-related services such as lost and found, escort services, and crowd control.
    • Address guest concerns related to safety and security with professionalism and discretion.
    • Maintain a visible presence to promote guest confidence and comfort.
  • Safety, Compliance & Loss Prevention
    • Enforce hotel policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations.
    • Support loss prevention efforts and protect hotel assets.
    • Maintain awareness of liquor laws and compliance requirements.
    • Identify hazards and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
  • Communication & Team Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other hotel departments.
    • Support special events, group functions, and operational needs across departments.
    • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
    • Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while also operating independently when required.

Job Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or coursework in safety, security, hospitality, or business preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of security, law enforcement, military, or related experience preferred; prior hospitality experience a plus.
  • Skills and Abilities:
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills (bilingual abilities a plus).
    • Effective conflict resolution, de-escalation, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations.
    • Strong observation skills and attention to detail.
    • Familiarity with CCTV systems, alarm systems, and safety protocols.
    • Ability to complete accurate and thorough reports and documentation.
    • Knowledge of emergency response procedures and life safety systems.
    • Professional, courteous, and service-oriented mindset.
    • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Commitment to upholding company values, safety standards, and operational excellence.
  • Certifications: CPR/First Aid certification required or willingness to obtain; security license may be required based on local regulations.
  • Travel required: None; role is fully property-based.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Constant walking and standing, including stair and perimeter patrols.
    • Frequent sitting for report writing and monitoring systems.
    • Frequent climbing, bending, kneeling, and reaching.
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 lbs. (or more in emergency situations).
    • Continuous use of vision, hearing, and motor coordination for monitoring and response.
