This contract role supports security engineering initiatives focused on cybersecurity automation, custom security tool development, identity and access management, Linux-based systems, and enterprise security platforms.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, develop, deploy, administer, and support security automations, scripts, integrations, utilities, dashboards, command-line tools, and operational workflows using Python and related technologies.
- Support security workflow automation, system integration, and troubleshooting across applications, platforms, operating systems, networks, identity services, and enterprise environments.
- Contribute to Linux system administration, lifecycle management, and operational support for security technologies.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide occasional after-hours support in a fast-paced environment with evolving operational priorities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, or related field OR equivalent relevant experience.
- 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- 5+ years of experience supporting large IT and security environments.
- Security engineering experience across cybersecurity technologies.
- Linux system administration and lifecycle management.
- Enterprise security architecture knowledge.
- Python security automation development.
- Troubleshooting complex cross-platform technical issues.
- Security workflow automation with Python, PowerShell, Bash, or APIs.
- Enterprise security technology support experience.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
- Must be located within a commutable distance to Columbia, SC.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with enterprise security tools and documentation.
- Relevant cybersecurity certification.
- Support for SOC, security, or incident response stakeholders.
- Linux, Python, Cloud, IAM, or platform certification.
- Security engineering generalist experience in large shared-services environments.
- Linux, Docker, security sensor, or platform administration experience.
Pay
Estimated hourly compensation: $79.5 - $87.5/hour.
