Security and Safety Officer
Summary of Job Duties
The Safety and Security Officer reports directly to the Supervisor of Safety and Security. This position is responsible for customer service, service recovery, security screening, weapon detection, and video surveillance systems monitoring. This position is also responsible for maintaining standards in accordance with all regulatory agencies. The Safety Security Officer will monitor for any safety issues while on foot patrol, responding to alarms, and assisting visitors and patients with guidance and requests. This position may assist Safety and Security Ambassadors' assignments as needed or assigned. Assignments may vary with increased security concerns within the UAMS system.
Qualifications
- Minimum: High school diploma / GED.
- PREFERRED: Associate or bachelor’s degree in hospitality, Education, General Education, Management, Technical, Communication, Finance, Business.
Additional Information
- Performs safety screenings at the metal detector in the ED and weapon detection systems at various locations at entrances of UAMS.
- Maintains standards in accordance with all regulatory agencies.
- Monitors for any safety issues while on foot patrol, responding to alarms, and assisting visitors and patients with guidance and requests.
- Aids in the effort to assure proper and efficient flow of visitors, patients and staff while monitoring the weapon detection equipment and persons entering UAMS at areas monitored by the weapon detection systems.
- Patrols on foot inside buildings while performing property checks on secure and high-risk areas of UAMS and having a visual presence of a security team throughout the facility, helping create a safer environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
- Assists with monitoring camera systems for safety and security concerns and reporting any suspicious activity to the UAMS Police Department.
- Fills in at the Information Desk in the main hospital during evening hours.
- Upon request, escorts employees and members of the campus population to their desired location.
- Escorts patients from the Outpatient Clinics (OPC) holding area to appointments.
- Responds to alarms as needed.
- Unlock buildings and offices as requested.
- Rotates areas of responsibility throughout each shift or as needed with other team members.
- Aids in the effort to assure proper and efficient flow of visitors, patients and staff while monitoring the weapon detection equipment and persons entering UAMS at areas monitored by the weapon detection systems.
- Assists Safety and Security Ambassadors with assignments as needed or assigned.
- Crosstrain to work in all positions assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
