Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of customers, employees, and others on the premises, including racing areas, barn areas, and event showrooms.
  • Greet patrons and visually inspect bags, purses, and individuals for unauthorized items.
  • Assist customers and employees, and report critical situations (e.g., medical emergencies, irate customers).
  • Patrol casino premises, buildings, grounds, corridors, barn areas, office areas, and parking facilities.
  • Ensure the integrity of all slot and table games.
  • Transport gaming chips to and from gaming tables in accordance with internal control procedures.
  • Perform the drop for table games, including poker, following internal control procedures.
  • Report critical situations, violations, or acts detrimental to the best interest of HCCTR to Security management.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are secure.
  • Advise violators of rule infractions (e.g., loitering, smoking, carrying forbidden articles).
  • Assist in internal or external investigations conducted by HCCTR or authorized local authorities.
  • Inspect equipment and machinery for tampering.
  • Monitor and report irregularities such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, and unlocked security doors.
  • Observe departing personnel to prevent theft of company property.
  • Sound alarms or notify supervision in case of fire, theft, or unauthorized persons.
  • Permit authorized persons to enter property and regulate vehicle/pedestrian traffic as needed.
  • Record data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, or equipment malfunctions for supervisory staff.
  • Maintain superior customer service in accordance with company standards and programs.
  • Uphold professional behavior and appearance, ensuring confidentiality of Security department functions and other sensitive information.
  • Participate in meetings and training as required.
  • Perform duties safely and report hazards immediately.
  • Prepare reports as requested or required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department or company management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one to three months of related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Effective communication skills for one-on-one and small group interactions with customers, employees, and the public.
  • Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical functions applicable to business needs.
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Must obtain annual licensing with the West Virginia Lottery and Racing Commissions.
  • CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Valid driver’s license for your state of residence; periodic driving record checks will be conducted.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • Strong observation skills and ability to work diplomatically and tactfully.
  • Flexibility to work all shifts, including holidays, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers and employees.
  • Previous customer service experience preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to maintain physical stamina and mental focus in a fast-paced casino environment while dealing with customers, management, and employees.
  • Regularly required to stand/walk up to twelve hours, speak, hear, use hands to finger/handle/feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, high/precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock.
  • Works in an environment where smoking is permitted and noise levels may be higher than normal.
