About the role
HED is seeking a seasoned architect or engineer to lead the Mission Critical sector, with a focus on data center projects. The ideal candidate will ensure the health of the entire project portfolio and represent client requirements to the project teams.
Responsibilities
- Be the client advocate and bridge to the project team on projects to ensure all requirements are represented.
- Aid project managers with up-front planning to deliver quality documents within budget and support meeting performance objectives.
- Ensure project managers adhere to HED's design process and complete necessary quality review milestones.
- Monitor financial performance of sector projects and provide guidance when financial goals are not being met.
- Evaluate sector workload, staff assignments, project planning, and quality assurance.
- Coordinate with business and operations leaders for sharing project workload and staffing resources across sectors.
- Represent the company as the sector representative for jobsite and client-related emergencies.
- Mentor project managers and team members as needed.
- Oversee sector business activities in coordination with other sector leaders, including client and project commitments.
- Facilitate efforts to grow and develop the sector, aligning with the company's policies, procedures, and workflows.
- Serve as a key participant and spokesperson for the company with prospective clients, professional organizations, and the public.
- Identify and assemble a core team of experts in each technical discipline to service clients and provide sector-specific technical expertise.
- Represent the company as principal-in-charge on select projects and provide other direct billable services as needed to meet chargeability goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering is required.
- Professional licensure or board-approved certification is required.
- Minimum 15 years of professional experience, with a minimum of five years in data center design.
- LEED accreditation is preferred.
- Understanding of data center sector, client relationship skills, and strong business skills.
- Extensive knowledge of professional services from marketing through project close-out, including design and technical expertise.
- Ability to motivate others and develop teamwork; excellent writing and speaking skills, and strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work well under deadlines and interact appropriately in various business and social settings.
- Capable of performing all duties of a project manager.
- Computer literate.
