Section Leader, Principal Systems Engineer

About the role

The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) Long Range Radars (LRR) department is seeking a Section Leader, Principal Systems Engineer to support the career development, engagement, and performance of engineers.

Responsibilities

• Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and career development support for section members.
• Conduct regular performance discussions, including goal-setting and feedback.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, and retention activities.
• Foster a supportive, collaborative environment that promotes growth and engagement.
• Partner with program and functional leadership to understand workforce needs and resolve staffing challenges.
• Champion continuous improvement in engineering practices, workflow, and team culture.
• Manage administrative responsibilities such as timekeeping, training compliance, and salary planning.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience with defensive radar systems and/or Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence systems.
• Experience leading technical teams.
• You must have a minimum active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance.
• You must be a U.S. citizen, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
