Responsibilities

  • Promotes a welcoming environment through customer service.
  • Greets and gives directions to patients, family members, visitors, physicians, staff, and other customers.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and neat work environment.
  • Communicates feedback from patients and visitors to the appropriate staff.
  • Completes age-specific competency assessments.
  • Screens visitors according to protocols.
  • Performs vital sign monitoring and assists with personal hygiene and daily living needs.
  • Supports patient care delivery by providing clerical services.
  • Assists with the care of patients by performing delegated activities.
  • Documents all data collected in Cerner and/or on worksheets, accurately, completely, and in a timely manner.
  • Ensures patient nutritional status by completing intake/output activities.
  • Provides transportation assistance and reports any variations from the patient's plan of care to the professional staff.
  • Completes daily room cleaning and maintains patient amenities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Completion of a state-approved Nurse Assistant course or 6 months of previous Nurse Assistant experience required.
  • Previous care-giver experience preferred.
  • Previous cleaning, food service, and/or patient-related experience preferred, but not required.
  • One to three months on the job experience to learn hospital procedures and work routines preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire.

  • Weight Demands: Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force.
  • Physical Activity: Occasionally Performed (1%-33%): Climbing, Crawling, Kneeling, Sitting, Frequently Performed (34%-66%): Balancing, Carrying, Crouching, Distinguishing colors, Keyboarding/typing, Lifting, Pulling/Pushing, Repetitive Motions, Stooping/bending, Twisting, Constantly Performed (67%-100%): Grasping, Hearing, Reaching, Seeing/Visual, Speaking/talking, Standing, Walking.
  • Equipment/Machinery/Tools: Explosives (pressurized gas), Hazardous Drugs (exposure risks, protective personal equipment required), Mechanical moving parts/vibrations.
  • Physical Hazards: Noise, Temperature, Lighting, Wet Floors, Outdoors, Sharps.
