About the role
Under the direction and supervision of the Health Officer and Health Administrator, provides secretarial and clerical support to the staff of the Health Department in meeting day-to-day responsibilities of the department, and serves as the Registrar of Vital Statistics. Serves as the receptionist of the department, and is the first point of contact in responding to the public’s questions and requests for assistance. Provides guidance and oversight relative to vital statistics activities performed by the Deputy Registrar of Vital Statistics, Alternate(s) Registrar of Vital Statistics, and Subregistrars as may be appointed. Does other related duties as required.
Responsibilities
- Provide secretarial and clerical support to the Health Department staff
- Serve as the Registrar of Vital Statistics
- Act as the department receptionist and first point of contact for the public
- Provide guidance and oversight for vital statistics activities
- Perform other related duties as required
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of five years experience as a secretary to an executive or administrative assistant in a public or private organization (Note: Successful completion of a two-year program in secretarial science at an accredited college or university may substitute for two of the five years)
- Valid New Jersey State Driver’s license
- Municipal Registrar Certification issued by the NJ Department of Health and Senior Services (strongly preferred)
Pay
Salary range: $35,000 to $82,810. Compensation commensurate with skills and experience.
