Key Responsibilities
- Attendance Tracking: Record and track student absences, tardiness, and early dismissals, including calling parents to verify absences and tracking written excuses.
- Data Management: Utilize Student Information Systems (SIS) to maintain accurate, up-to-date daily attendance records, input enrollment data, and process withdrawals.
- Reporting: Generate and submit daily, monthly, and end-of-year attendance reports to school administration and the state Department of Education.
- Front Office Duties: Act as the primary point of contact by answering phones, greeting visitors, processing incoming/outgoing mail, and managing general student records.
- Student Support: Issue admit slips for tardy students, provide visitor permits, and maintain high standards of customer service with staff and parents.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technological Proficiency: Experience with office software (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace) and dedicated school database systems.
- Communication: Effective, polite communication with parents, staff, and students regarding sensitive attendance issues.
- Organization: High attention to detail for managing secure, confidential files and complying with state attendance codes.
- Experience: Previous clerical or secretarial experience is usually required, often with preferred experience in a school setting.
