SECONDARY SCIENCE TEACHER 0.6 FTE 2026-27 INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare for high quality biology lessons that include lab oriented activities and inquiry based opportunities.
- Integration of Next Generation Science Standards.
- Establish a culture for learning, provide clear communication with students and engage students in learning.
- Use effective questioning and discussion techniques and reflect on teaching.
- Recognize individual student learning needs and develop strategies to address those needs.
- Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment.
- Use multiple student data elements to modify instruction and improve student learning.
- Design student assessments, use assessment in instruction, and maintain accurate student records.
- Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community.
- Collaborate and develop professionally.
- Set and achieve student growth goals.
- Direct the activities of assigned non-certificated personnel.
- Attend or participate in all required staff meetings and other activities.
Requirements
- Possess or qualify for immediate issuance of a valid Washington State teaching certificate with an endorsement in biology and chemistry.
- Prefered: Multiple endorsements.
- B.A. degree in biology.
- Qualified to teach College in the High School Courses.
Knowledge
- Bellevue School District's curriculum and instructional practices.
Skills
- Training in and/or direct experience with high school aged students.
- Experience teaching biology courses which includes laboratory and hands-on experiences for students, preferred.
- Commitment to the District's vision, mission and goals.
- Commitment to equity through culturally relevant teaching practices.
- Knowledge of differentiated instructional practices and data-driven instructional decision-making.
- Ability and skills necessary to individualize instruction.
- Commitment and ability to work with a full range of students including gifted, mainstreamed special education, English language learners, and students from diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
- Ability to develop students’ technology literacy.
- Ability to work in a collaborative or team approach.
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, collaboratively and positively with students, parents, and colleagues, orally and in writing.
- Ability to work with students in multi-aged groups.
- Ability to use varied assessments, including performance tasks, portfolios, and student self-assessment.
Education
- B.A. degree in biology.
Pay
$ 75,821 to $ 142,176 annual salary, actual salary prorated based on FTE (based on the negotiated collective bargaining agreement salary schedule).
Schedule
Note: Certificated staff work the school year contract with placement on the District and BEA bargaining agreement salary schedule. Placement on the schedule is determined by training and experience.
