About the role

To provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program to support the academic, life skills and wellness, and college/career needs of all students.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that supports student academic success, personal/social growth, and career development.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to promote a supportive learning environment.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address students' emotional, social, and academic needs.
  • Assess student needs through various assessment tools and interventions.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans as needed.

Requirements

  • An earned master's degree from an accredited institution in School Counseling, Counselor Education, or a related field.
  • Valid Florida Department of Education Certification in School Counseling.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills as required for the position.

Qualifications

  • Significant contact with students, families, and colleagues.
  • Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods and occasional walking.

Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using counseling software and databases.
  • Knowledge of child development and psychology.
