About the role
To provide a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate school counseling program to support the academic, life skills and wellness, and college/career needs of all students.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive school counseling program that supports student academic success, personal/social growth, and career development.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other school staff to promote a supportive learning environment.
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to address students' emotional, social, and academic needs.
- Assess student needs through various assessment tools and interventions.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.
- Work collaboratively with families to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and 504 plans as needed.
Requirements
- An earned master's degree from an accredited institution in School Counseling, Counselor Education, or a related field.
- Valid Florida Department of Education Certification in School Counseling.
- Ability to work with diverse groups.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Computer skills as required for the position.
Qualifications
- Significant contact with students, families, and colleagues.
- Physical requirements include sitting for extended periods and occasional walking.
Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in using counseling software and databases.
- Knowledge of child development and psychology.
