Secondary Area 1 School_Paraprofessional, Title I (Towers HS) 2026-2027

This is a one-year position funded through Title I funds, ending on or before June 30, 2027. To continue employment with the DeKalb County School District for the 2026-2027 school year, the applicant must apply for and be recommended for a new position.

About the Role

Supports teachers in meeting the educational, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students in the classroom and community. The ideal candidate should be knowledgeable and have a strong desire to help students learn, with a focus on implementing and promoting high academic expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provides small group and/or individualized instruction to students in accordance with lesson plans developed by the teacher.
• Assists teachers with daily classroom management activities to ensure a conducive learning environment.
• Supports teachers with assessment of student performance, including standardized and non-standardized testing, and other recordkeeping tasks.
• Helps develop and organize appropriate instructional materials for student use, ensuring availability prior to scheduled instructional segments.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of sixty (60) semester hours or ninety (90) quarter hours of college courses completed with a GPA of 2.0 or higher from a Professional Standards Commission-approved accredited college or university, or
• High school diploma/GED and a passing score on the Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (GACE) Paraprofessional Assessment.
• Must obtain a valid Professional Standards Commission-approved paraprofessional certificate.
