Location: 10000 NW 2nd, Oklahoma City, OK 73127

Second shift with shift differential pay.

Responsibilities

  • Perform structural and pipe welding assignments in barge and boat repair, fabrication, cargo tanks, and internal compartments.
  • Maintain a safe working environment; notify foreman or supervisor of any safety or structural issues.
  • Prepare surfaces for welding by grinding in repair and fabrication areas.
  • Complete full penetration welds on specialty components, internal compartments, cargo tanks, external surfaces, and repair areas.
  • Operate welding and grinding equipment using vacuum pumps, air pumps, compressors, blowers, meters, hoses, and other tools.
  • Weld steel plate and pipe as directed by a foreman or supervisor to complete repairs, fabrication, or modifications.
  • Safely and efficiently use hand, power, and cutting tools.
  • Consult with foreman or supervisor regarding installation or repair problems, sequence of operations, and time required.
  • Remove high spots and cut bevels using hand files, portable grinders, and cutting torches.
  • Tack weld clips and brackets in place prior to permanent welding.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely use welding machines, grinders, hand, and power tools.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Proficient in safety equipment usage; able to qualify for safety equipment use.
  • High performance and strong team player.
  • Commitment to company values and safety program.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and training that provides required knowledge, abilities, and skills.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively; bilingual preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a shipyard environment.

Physical Activities & Requirements

  • Ability to work in harsh environments (heat, cold, rain, ice) both inside and outside.
  • Able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and operate equipment safely.
  • Work requires long periods of sitting in awkward positions, standing on varied surfaces and angles, bending, crouching, and climbing over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal structural members.
