Job Summary

Newly Weds Foods is a global leader in food ingredient manufacturing with operations across 32 plants worldwide. We are currently seeking a Mechanic to join our Watertown team.

About the role

The Mechanic will be responsible for performing preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on all production machinery, aiming to enhance equipment reliability and product quality. This role involves working closely with the maintenance team and production staff to address quality and safety concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Perform machine setup and repair assembly and packaging equipment.
  • Welding skills are a plus.
  • Perform preventative maintenance routines on all production equipment.
  • Install, debug, and stabilize plant equipment as required.
  • Assist in Production/Maintenance related assignments as needed.
  • Communicate regarding issues and problem-solve with Production staff on quality and safety concerns.
  • Record maintenance data as directed by the Maintenance Manager to monitor equipment performance.
  • Identify and report equipment concerns to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Participate in overtime assignments as required.
  • Provide "on call" coverage as needed.
  • Perform other various similar and related duties as required by the Manager.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Maintenance Technology field or equivalent education.
  • 1-5 years manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Maintenance jargon, Maintenance Best Practices, OSHA, safety, etc.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of GMP, OSHA, and Production needs.

Work Environment

The job is performed in production areas where the person will be exposed to strong aromas, airborne dust particles emanating from ingredients being used, and will be in the presence of or otherwise operating machinery.
