SecDevOps Engineer
About the role
Blue Origin is seeking an experienced SecDevOps Engineer (Level 4) to join our COMSEC team within the Core Systems and Components group. In this role, you will play a critical part in integrating security practices into our development and operations workflows, ensuring the protection of our most sensitive systems and communications. You will work at the intersection of security, software development, and infrastructure — helping to build and maintain secure, reliable systems that support Blue Origin's mission to enable millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth.
The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, focused on addressing space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.
Who You'll Work With
- Cybersecurity teams to define and enforce security policies and standards
- Software Developers to embed security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) to ensure secure, stable, and scalable operations
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain secure DevOps pipelines and infrastructure
- Integrate automated security testing, vulnerability scanning, and compliance checks into CI/CD workflows
- Support COMSEC operations by ensuring secure communication systems and tools meet applicable standards
- Identify and remediate security vulnerabilities across development and production environments
- Enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices across engineering teams
- Monitor systems for security threats and respond to incidents in collaboration with Cybersecurity teams
- Partner with SREs to build resilient, security-hardened infrastructure
- Ensure compliance with relevant government and industry security frameworks and regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in DevOps, SecDevOps, or a related engineering discipline
- Proven experience integrating security practices into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows
- Hands-on experience with security tools such as SAST, DAST, vulnerability scanners, and SIEM platforms
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Strong understanding of networking, encryption, and secure communications
- Familiarity with security frameworks such as NIST SP 800-series, RMF, or CMMC
Preferred Qualifications
- Active U.S. Security Clearance or ability to obtain one
- Experience with COMSEC equipment, policies, and key management
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CEH, Security+, or Certified DevSecOps Professional
- Experience applying NIST SP 800-53 security and privacy controls for federal information systems and organizations
- Experience working in an aerospace, defense, or government contracting environment
- Familiarity with IaC tools such as Terraform or Ansible
Pay
Base Pay Range for CO applicants is $181,626.00 - $254,275.35. Other site ranges may differ.

- Blue’s Standard Background Check required for all positions
- Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) background check if the role requires access to a military installation
- Additional requirements for drivers operating Commercial Motor Vehicles, including Drug and Alcohol Testing, DOT physical, and CDL requirements (if applicable)
- Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, including pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical, for certain job profiles
