Seating Technician

Full-time position (40 hours per week) with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm. This role is benefit eligible.

About the Role

This position pre-fabricates Gillette seating and adaptive equipment to meet or exceed Gillette and industry standards for safety, functionality, and cosmetic appeal. While primarily focused on fabrication, the role may require occasional patient contact to assist seating practitioners with fittings, repairs, or adjustments.

Fabrication includes Gillette custom seating, integrating seating systems into wheelchairs, and distributing seating products. The role also involves creating custom seating accessories such as anterior thoracic supports, medical thigh supports, and headrests, as well as handling unique custom projects for patients with complex needs.

Serving patients with challenging and complex conditions requires collaboration across specialized teams and departments. Care is organized around each patient’s condition, demanding strong teamwork, efficient communication, and adaptability to support high-functioning, integrated care teams.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the lab and individual work area are regularly cleaned, stocked, and orderly to maintain a safe and efficient workspace.
• Use proper materials, equipment, and methods safely and efficiently to complete projects within fabrication timelines.
• Fabricate seating systems that are functional, safe, cosmetically pleasing, and aligned with the criteria on the fabrication form, following established standards.
• Communicate professionally with seating practitioners to clarify fabrication details or address missing information.
• Meet Gillette’s customer service expectations by providing prompt, high-quality service to patients, families, and hospital staff.
• Foster a positive work environment through cooperation, adaptability, and a willingness to learn and improve processes.
• Work proficiently with Gillette information systems to access equipment and patient data, and complete documentation accurately and on time.
• Participate in activities that promote professional growth, quality improvement, and patient satisfaction.
• Demonstrate proficiency with all styles of manual and power wheelchairs.
• Attend educational activities relevant to the equipment being fabricated.
• Interpret fabrication sheets accurately and fabricate products to department standards.
• Fabricate non-complex and custom contoured seating systems with minimal supervision and rework.
• Assist with the wheelchair database and inventory management.
• Understand scheduling and daily workflow, and provide support as needed.
• Achieve proficiency in all areas of fabrication, handling projects of varying complexity with minimal oversight.

Pay

Hourly wage ranges from $22.50 to $31.75, with a median wage of $26.47 per hour. Pay is determined by factors such as relevant work experience, education, certification, licensure, and internal equity.
