About the Role

The Zip Line Guide is responsible for providing a safe, fun, and engaging environment for guests and employees on the Zip Line Course. This position focuses on safety, service, and efficiency while operating higher complexity activities. Building lasting relationships with guests and employees is key to success. This role requires a high degree of focus on safety and comfort working at various heights.

Responsibilities

  • Assist guests in a safe, professional manner on complex activities.
  • Perform all tasks for which the work group is responsible.
  • Provide a safe environment for guests and staff while ensuring fun and engagement at the highest level.
  • Monitor adherence to safety policies to prioritize guest and staff safety.
  • Work at various levels of height, focusing on safety for guests, fellow employees, and self.
  • Greet guests and deliver an introductory orientation talk.
  • Inspect, repair as needed, and prepare guide equipment, guest equipment, and the Zip Line course daily.
  • Complete Daily Operations Check List and Report, Equipment Use Log, and Near Misses/Incidents reports when pertinent.
  • Inform Manager of any maintenance needs on the course.
  • Guide groups and demonstrate proficiency in the skills required to guide.
  • Ensure all procedures in the Guide Training Manual are followed.
  • Respond when necessary to evacuate participants from the course.
  • Maintain the highest level of cleanliness and actively mitigate hazards.

Requirements

  • Physical capability to assist and accommodate guests of various sizes, including rescues.
  • Ability to hike, climb, and rappel to and from high altitudes.
  • Full range of overhead arm motions and hand dexterity.
  • Strong upper body strength to pull self and up to 270 pounds more along each cable’s incline.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to decrease the speed of, and stop, guests of various weights and speeds at the landing point.
  • Strong physical stamina and conditioning.
  • Must be family and kid-friendly.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be comfortable working in extreme weather conditions and at heights of 200+ feet.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and extensive background check.

Qualifications

  • Preference given to Hualapai Tribal members.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Good oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and an outgoing personality.
  • Prior experience as a zip line guide is a plus.
  • Experience in outdoor activities such as rope climbing and/or rock climbing.

Schedule

  • Must be able to work holidays and weekends.
