Seasonal Warehouse Associate

About the role

Backcountry has an opportunity for a highly motivated individual to join our Warehouse team as a Merchandise Processor. This is a physically active role that keeps you on your feet and moving throughout your shift. You'll spend your time packing orders and loading packages into trailers, which means you should be comfortable with constant standing, frequent bending, and repetitive lifting. This is a Seasonal Position with a maximum employment period of six (6) months. Full-time shifts only; part-time positions are not available.

Shifts & Pay

• AM – Mon–Fri, 6:30a–3:00p – $15.00/hr
• PM – Mon–Fri, 1:30p–10:00p – $15/hr + $1.85/hr shift differential = $16.85/hr
• WKN – Sat–Tue, 6:30a–5:00p – $15/hr + $2.00/hr shift differential = $17.00/hr

Shifts are not flexible; if you are unable to work the entire shift, we are unable to hire you.

Overtime

Occasionally, overtime may be required to support operational demands. When this happens, overtime is typically scheduled as follows:

• AM Shift: May begin up to 1 hour earlier than the standard start time
• PM Shift: May extend up to 1 hour beyond the usual end time
• Weekend Shift: May include an additional day, as shifts are already 10–12 hours

All scheduling, including overtime, is subject to change based on business needs and volume fluctuations.

Holiday schedule

The warehouse will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day; we typically work shorter hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. A blackout period for time off requests typically runs from November 23rd through December 4th; during this period, time off requests cannot be approved.

Seasonal conversion

We do often convert high-performing seasonal employees to regular status; these decisions are based on business demands and performance. Seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits; however, you do get to participate in our employee discount perk.

Essential duties & responsibilities

• Stand and walk for your entire shift
• Read and audit labels
• Identify, count, and sort packages and inventory with a high level of accuracy
• Understand and differentiate between shipping methods and sort packages accordingly
• Use automated packaging equipment
• Participate in team meetings, follow guidance, and provide feedback as appropriate
• Maintain a clean workspace
• Fix problems that occur to ensure inventory and/or shipping accuracy
• Resolve inventory issues by adjusting inventory
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Participate in LEAN initiatives

Qualifications & skills

• Prefer high school diploma or equivalency
• Verbal and written comprehension of the English language required
• Fundamental math skills required
• Must be able to apply established procedures and follow oral/written instructions
• Must be able to work independently without direct supervision and organize/prioritize workload to ensure completion of all tasks within established time frames
• Computer skills, including familiarity with the internet and email required
• Experience operating power industrial equipment (for example, standing order picker or forklift)

Physical demands & working environment

Regularly use hearing/speech abilities to communicate with coworkers, give/receive instruction, and listen for equipment malfunctions. Regularly use sight abilities: depth perception, hand/eye/foot coordination, visual acuity in near-, mid-, and far-range vision. Regularly stand/walk on concrete floor. Frequently climb up and down stairs but rarely climb ladders. Frequently bend/twist at waist/knees/neck. Frequently use both hands/arms to reach/push/pull/lift:

• Constant (60–100%): 10–30 lbs
• Frequent (30–60%): lifting and carrying
• Occasional (10–30%): 30–60 lbs
• Rarely (1–10%): less than 10 lbs, or greater than 60 lbs

Crawling is typically not required. Work is performed indoors, and noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
