About the role

In this role, the Nurse Vaccinator will deliver safe, high-quality immunization services to patients across all age groups, including children. Beyond core vaccine delivery, they will have opportunities to expand their clinical skills through training on Long-Acting Injectable (LAI) medications as needed. During lower-volume clinic hours, they will help maintain efficient operational workflows by assisting with electronic record entry, state registry reporting (WIR), and medical billing.

Responsibilities

  • Clinical Care & Vaccine Administration
    • Patient Immunization: Safely prepare and administer routine seasonal, pediatric, and adult vaccines in accordance with standard clinical protocols.
    • Pediatric Care: Administer vaccines to children and adolescents using gentle, age-appropriate techniques to minimize discomfort and anxiety.
    • Advanced Administration (LAI): Complete training to administer Long-Acting Injectable (LAI) medications as clinical demand requires.
    • Patient Education & Screening: Review medical histories, screen for contraindications, obtain informed consent, and educate patients/caregivers on vaccine benefits, potential side effects, and post-care instructions.
  • Operational & Administrative Support
    • EHR & System Entry: Timely and accurately enter all administered doses into the internal clinical database.
    • State Registry Reporting: Report vaccination records into the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR) adhering to state reporting standards.
    • Billing Support: Assist with insurance verification, claim submission, and billing entry during low-demand or administrative blocks.
    • Safety & Inventory: Maintain strict adherence to infection control, aseptic technique, cold-chain management, and proper disposal of biohazardous materials/sharps.

Requirements

  • Licensure: Active, unencumbered RN license in the State of Wisconsin.
  • Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification.
  • Clinical Skills: Direct experience administering intramuscular (IM) and subcutaneous (SubQ) injections.
  • Computer Proficiency: Comfortable learning and using Electronic Health Records (EHR) and basic administrative/billing software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with pediatric immunizations.
  • Prior experience using the Wisconsin Immunization Registry (WIR).
  • Background working in a high-volume outpatient, pharmacy, or public health clinic environment.

Skills

  • Warm, empathetic patient-facing communication.
  • Strong organizational skills and sharp attention to detail.
  • Adaptability to shift between clinical care and administrative duties depending on daily patient volume.

Non-exempt (hourly) position.
