Seasonal Turf Technician (Chomonix Golf Course)

About the role
This is a seasonal, non-exempt, on-site position as a Seasonal Turf Technician. The role involves performing various duties related to golf course maintenance at Chomonix Golf Course in Lino Lakes, MN. Expected work hours are 25-40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays, with a primary schedule of 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily golf course maintenance, including mowing the course, laying sod, preparing new turf, and seeding the lawn.
- Mow golf course utilizing rotary mowers.
- Perform sand trap, basic tree, and vegetation maintenance.
- Assist with irrigation landscape repair, fertilizer applications, special projects, and other general maintenance tasks.
- Ensure proper care and safety in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; communicate any needs or problems.
- Promote continuous improvement of safety and environmental practices.
Requirements
- Must be at least 16 years of age by date of application.
- Must successfully pass a criminal history background check.
- Driving is required for this position.
- Ability to use a variety of mowers, tractors, pickup trucks, UTVs, and boats.
Preferred Qualifications
- General mechanical knowledge.
- Previous golf course work experience.
- Basic understanding of the game of golf.
- Obtain or maintain American Red Cross CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
- Work is performed in indoor and outdoor county worksites in all weather conditions.
- Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, as well as the ability to see colors, shades, and brightness.
- Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
- Assignments require several hours of varied physical activity, including repeated bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, prolonged walking on sloped or uneven terrain, and handling/carrying equipment.
- Regular lifting of 0-25 lbs., occasional lifting of up to 75 lbs.
- Equipment used includes computers, phones, standard office equipment, and various park maintenance tools such as hand and power tools, shovels, sledgehammers, post hole diggers, weed whips, ladders, wheelbarrows, light and heavy equipment, chemicals, personal protective equipment, and weather-appropriate gear.

Pay
Hiring range: $14.50 to $17.50 per hour. The starting rate depends on experience, education, and qualifications.
