About the role

Juvenile and Family Services is seeking an intern to assist with analysis of program, survey, and demographic data in Excel. The Data Analyst will also potentially work with key stakeholders to understand their reporting/analytic needs and translate those into reports. This role will suit someone who is seeking future work in the data analysis field.

Essential Job Functions

  • Assist with analysis of program, survey, and demographic data in Excel.
  • Potentially work with key stakeholders to understand their reporting/analytic needs and translate those into reports.
  • Attend staff and team meetings.
  • Participate in other training opportunities as needed.

Time-period and Expected Hours

The work will be completed upon reaching 180 hours or 90 days, whichever comes first. Hours are flexible and can range from 15 to 40 hours per week, depending on intern availability, up to a maximum of 180 total hours or 90 days, whichever comes first. Work will be performed at the Maryland Judicial Center in Annapolis, MD. Travel to circuit courthouses may be required for part of this internship.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Current student pursuing a BA/BS degree (Government/Public Policy, Public Administration, Statistics or equivalent)
  • Preferred: Current student pursuing MPA/MPP.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Export and compile data efficiently.
  • Analyze complex sets of data to identify data trends and anomalies.
  • Data cleanup on multiple platforms to ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Keep information confidential.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong critical thinking skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
