Responsibilities
- Asphalt repair (path and pothole)
- Crack sealing
- Bridge painting
- Roadside maintenance (mowing, trimming, trash pick-up, washout repair)
- Assist Streets Maintenance Technicians with day-to-day operations
- Learn and operate various tools such as leaf blowers, chainsaws, mowers, string trimmers, construction hand tools (shovels, rakes, lutes, tampers)
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
- Ability to convey information in written, verbal, and electronic form
- Ability to follow written and oral directions
- Mechanical aptitude; baseline knowledge of mechanical tasks used in street operations and maintenance
- Moderate to heavy physical work, including lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs, and pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs
- Ability to physically access all work sites in various weather and environmental conditions
- Frequent full range of body movement (climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting)
- Frequent hand/eye coordination for operating tools, equipment, and vehicles
- Vision for reading, recording, and interpreting information
- Speech communication and hearing to maintain communication with employees and citizens
Work Environment
- Works primarily outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions
- Regular exposure to dust, noise, and chemicals
Equipment Used
- Occasional use of personal equipment (e.g., vehicle, cell phone, tools)
- Various tools and equipment such as leaf blowers, chainsaws, mowers, string trimmers, construction hand tools
Must satisfactorily pass a criminal background and driving record check prior to commencing employment.
