Seasonal Street Laborer

Essential Functions

• Performs a variety of routine, unskilled or semi-skilled maintenance work using manual and light duty power tools.
• Works under the immediate supervision of assigned full time Street Operators, Street Specialists or Cemetery Sexton.
• Job assignments include required labor involved in construction and maintenance projects, as part of a crew, performing pavement repair, crack seal, ditch digging, storm sewer manhole and line cleaning, laying and backfilling storm sewer pipe, landscape restoration work and weed trimming.
• Cleaning of various department equipment, tools and facilities;
• Performs trash pickup along street right of ways, open spaces and various City properties;
• May drive light duty vehicles and may be assigned to direct vehicular traffic within established work zones.

• Must have the ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time;
• Absolutely must have the ability to work safely;
• Absolutely must have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
• Absolutely must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees;
• Absolutely must have the ability to carry out written and oral instructions.
